2012 Peterbilt 587 – An Environmentally Friendly Truck
Introduction Peterbilt revealed its all-new Class-8 Series Model 587 at the 2010 Mid America Trucking Show. After years of learning the “code” of 3-series of trucks, the company chose to make this a flagship of whole new series. They could have called it 397, but the truck is new, so it deserves its own series. The 2012 Peterbilt 587 is designed to accept either the new PACCAR MX or the Cummins ISX15 powerplant. The platform for 587 is also the first designed from ground-up to feature all 3 technologies, which PACCAR uses for reducing diesel emissions by over 99% from 1988.
